Postdoctoral Fellow

Chandika Rani Ganesh Babu is a wildlife geneticist with more than seven years of experience applying genomic tools to wildlife conservation, health, and management. Her research has focused on a range of endangered species, including the Nilgiri tahr, red panda, and rhesus macaque. She transitioned to genome-scale studies of white-tailed deer for her PhD, developing a cost-effective GT-seq panel for population management and leading a genome-wide association study to identify genetic factors underlying susceptibility to chronic wasting disease (CWD).

As a K. Lisa Yang Postdoctoral Wildlife Health Fellow, Chandika is expanding her CWD work by integrating multi-omics and computational approaches to uncover disease mechanisms and translate genomic discoveries into practical tools for wildlife management and conservation.
